EL4 Beta Test Early Release New & Enhanced Features

Key new and upgraded features included in early release

We’re excited to share the early release version of Estimating Link Version 4 (EL4) — our next-generation web-based platform built to modernize your estimating experience while keeping the EL workflow you already know.

Below is a look at what’s included in this Beta release.

What's New in EL4 (Early Release)

A Modern, Cleaner Interface

EL4 introduces a refreshed layout designed to be easier to navigate, faster to work in, and more intuitive for everyday estimating.

Highlights include:

  • New Dashboard/Home screen

  • A redesigned Top Bar showing your company + profile

  • A streamlined Left Navigation Sidebar for quick access to everything you need

 

New Home Dashboard Experience

The new Home Dashboard gives you quick visibility into what matters most — right when you log in.

Quick Views and links include:

  • My recent projects

  • Company activity and changes

  • Who is currently logged and where

  • TCLI announcements (important updates, improvements, and releases)

 

Easier Navigation 

The Left Sidebar is now your primary navigation hub, making it faster to move between areas without digging through menus.

From the sidebar you can:

  • Hide or show the Tree View

  • Create a new project

  • Open and manage:

    • existing EL4 projects in the project list screen

    • All system's libraries
    • Catalogs (when enabled)
    • Setup Options/Settings
  • Generate Reports or initiate exports

 

Project List Enhancements

The Project List now includes an improved search bar as well as improved tracking and visibility.

New: Project Audit Details:

  • Created by / Create date and time

  • Updated by / Updated date and time

 

Project/Bid/Estimate Improvements

Quick Module Switching: Once you open a project, you’ll see tabs for:

BID | ITEM | RATE | SMC | RTC

These tabs provide fast navigation between key project modules.

Total Bid Visibility Everywhere: Your Total Bid is visible across modules, giving you a constant real-time view of where your estimate stands.

Restore + Rename Projects (Safe Testing!): You can now restore a project and rename it, which helps prevent overwriting your original work — especially helpful during testing.

Built-In Team Visibility (Multi-User Awareness): When coworkers are in the same project, EL4 shows a visual indicator with their profile image, so you can see who’s working alongside you.
Hover over their icon to see where they are in the project.

 

Bid Sheet (now BID tab) Upgrades

Smart Search Bar (with Filters + History)

Searing inside the Bid Grid is now faster and more powerful with:

  • Smart chips like:

    • Open Items
    • Alternates (All / Active / Inactive)
  • Recent search history for quicker repeat lookups

Bid Grid Improvements

This grid is significantly more flexible and user-friendly, including:

  • Drag & drop columns

  • Select / unselect all rows

  • Drag & drop items to reorder

  • Drag & drop sections to reorder

  • Expandable / collapsible items that contain sub-level items

  • Choose which columns to show or hide

  • Quick add Bid Item

Simultanous Item status Visibility

You'll see a visual indicator when items are being worked on simultaneously, including:

  • Open

  • Fixed Price

  • Move Money

 

Item Sheet (now ITEM tab) Improvements

Item Grid Enhancements

The Item module now supports a smoother and more customizable grid experience:

  • Drag & drop columns

  • Select / unselect all rows

  • Drag & drop rows to reorder

  • Choose columns to show or hide

  • Improved visuals (including image support)

Better Comments + Faster Add Options

  • Enhanced item comments

  • Quick add from library (less searching and faster building)

Improved Cost Editing Experience

  • Updated production unit change behavior

  • Collapsible “Item Costs by Type” panel for cleaner editing and better visibility

 

RATE Module Enhancements

More Powerful Rate Codes: Rate codes now support up to 16 characters (up from 9 in EL3) — allowing better naming conventions and organization.

Search Across All Rates: You can now quickly search all rates, making it easier to locate what you need without manually browsing.

 

Settings Improvements

New system-level options include:

  • Enable / Disable pop-up notifications and tooltips

  • Reset grid states (great for troubleshooting layout changes)

 

Library Enhancements

Better Organization for Project Classifications: Project classifications now support sub-folder organization, helping you keep libraries cleaner and easier to navigate.
