Network Installation
Estimating Link can be a multi-user application when deployed in a server-based environment, allowing multiple users to work in the same project simultaneously.
-
The database is hosted on a Windows Server running SQL Server
-
Each workstation connects to this database over the network. Firewall rules may been to be adjusted to allow for access
The application performs frequent read/write operations, so proper server configuration is critical
Multi-User Configuration
Estimating Link performs its multi-user functions by connecting to an SQL database on a Windows Server.
- Estimating Link does not need to be installed on the server
- Each workstation must configure its database connection
Go to:Setup → Options → Database
Required values:
- SQL Server instance name
- Database name (defaults provided during setup)
For detailed workstation setup, go to Adding a New User & Connecting to Server
Minimum Server Hardware Guidelines
These recommendations assume ~5 concurrent users.
If the server is being used for other purposes, or there are more than 5 simultaneous Estimating Link users, increase resources as needed based on usage.

It is highly recommended that you consult with a qualified networking professional that can adequately analyze your needs and determine an appropriate server for your company.
