Overview

Deploying multiple databases can be helpful for large companies who may have multiple office locations or multiple departments throughout their organization.  Multiple databases allow for users to keep their Estimating Link® projects and data separate while being able to maintain access of those different databases.

Instructions for Setup of Multiple Databases

  • From the Server,  open the Server Configuration Tool (SCT)
  • Click Create Database on the bottom of the window.
  • Enter the new database name.  The name is determined by you.
  • Enter the User ID.  This will be the Windows User ID of the user logged into the server.
  • Click OK.
  • You will now see the newly created database in the database list.
  • Close the Estimating Link Configuration Tool.

Connecting your newly created database to a User PC

  • On a User PC, open the Estimating Link® program.
  • Navigate to the Menu Setup>Options, then click the tab "Database."
  • Under Connect to Different Database, click the Add Button .
  • The Add Connection Window will appear.
  • Under Connect to a database, use the drop down menu to select your database.
  • Under "Friendly Name", it is recommended that you change the name to match the name of the database, but it is not required.  (You can copy/paste.)
  • Click OK to Save.
  • Under Connect to a Different Database, use the drop down menu to select the database you want to connect to.
  • Click Connect.
  • Under Current Connection, the database name will be displayed.
